Monty, as we call him, arrived on June 17, 2008, and he is probably one of the best males born on our farm to date -- with beautiful amber-colored popcorn crimp, a mellow personality, and nice straight legs.
His tui fleece was submitted to the 2009 AlpacaMania spin-off, and as I was sorting it, I was amazed at its density, crimp and softness -- not to mention the beautiful color. (He ended up taking 3rd out of 13 in that competition.) His 2009 histogram from Yocum-McColl confirm the judge's opinion. Just take a look at his staple length!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words -- take a look at this boy's teddy bear face at 6 months old and you will fall in love!

| Tocayo is a handsome fawn herdsire with excellent conformation, heavy bone structure, and silky golden locks that practically glow in the dark.
At the 2005 Heart of the Valley Alpaca Adventure Shorn Halter show, judge Nard Mullen placed Tocayo 2nd in a very competitive class of former ribbon-winners, with praise for his correct conformation, attitude, depth of jaw and tail set.
Tocayo took 2nd out of 7 at the 2007 AlpacaMania Handcrafter's Spin-off competition for 3 to 5 year-old solids. He received high marks for staple length and structure, uniformity, fineness and brightness. His finished yarn and rovings are a beautiful pale gold color and incredibly soft!
With his Accoyo genetics, Tocayo has inherited dark color genes as well as excellent coverage down his legs and toes. |
Reina was the first female born here on our farm, so it has been a real pleasure watching her grow from a sweet little cria to a beautiful maiden and now into a wonderful, caring mother.
Reina won 1st place in Shorn Halter for Fawn 2+ Females at AlpacaMania 2005. Judge Tim Lavan especially liked her style and her full bonnet, but you can judge for yourself! Her beautiful fleece took 4th place at the 2006 AWE Handcrafters Spin-off with a total score of 94 out of 100. She earned maximum points for staple length, lack of guard hair, crimp, staple structure (architecture), uniformity, fineness, brightness, ease of spinning, and hand feel (softness and loft of yarn). |
