Bolero was the first Igon cria born here at Cedar Glen and he has developed into a very nice yearling. His crimpy blanket is a smoky bay black, and he is very correct, with good conformation and strong bone. Now a young adult, Bo still has a sweet disposition -- easy for us to handle and a mellow herdmate.
Bo's dam is our wonderful Tess, so he has black and medium silver grey on her side of the family tree, including his prolific grandsire Wiki Wiki. His sire is our incredible Igon, who comes from a long line of whites and fawns, including CL9 Altair, Peruvian Aladdin, and PPPeruvian Yupanqui. Igon has wonderful fleece and has sheared 11.2 pounds of luscious crimpy fiber this year. He has a very distinctive head, with a full bonnet and beard, and tends to pass these characteristics on to his cria.
Bo is related to most of our females, so we are looking for a good home for him. Give us a call if you're interested! |

Champion-producing Igon is a full Peruvian, Cloud 9 Altair son who carries Yupanqui and Aladdin bloodlines. This proud herdsire has beautiful fleece – and plenty of it! -- 9.3 lbs in 2006 and a whopping 10.6 pounds in 2007. And even at 6 years of age, he has absolutely no "halo" visible in his blanket!
His fleece won a blue ribbon at the 2004 Ohio Alpacafest (OABA) Handcrafters' Spin Off, receiving high marks for lock structure and high frequency of crimp from base to tip. He placed 2nd in a halter class of 7 at the 2005 Heart of the Valley Show, judged by Nard Mullen. Judge Tim Lavan placed him 4th in a halter class of 10 at the 2005 AlpacaMania and Igon's fleece earned a red ribbon at the same show.
In his first year at stud, Igon certainly proved his merits. His first 12 crias (8 females and 4 males) were born in 2006 in a variety of colors. |
Tess has been a wonderful dam for us since we bought her as part of our foundation herd in 2002. She usually gets pregnant on the first try, has trouble-free pregnancies and very easy births. Her cria are big and healthy, able to stand and nurse within an hour and gain weight steadily. On top of that, they all have great personalities and eye-catching good looks.
If Tess sounds like the kind of production dam everyone dreams of owning, you may be wondering why we are selling her. In fact, we’ve been asking that question ourselves! But the truth is, after producing some of our best alpacas, Tess’ bloodlines saturate our herd and we are now at the point where her daughters are starting their own breeding careers. Sadly, it is time for her to pass her wonderful genetics on to another lucky farm.
Tess comes from strong grey and black lineages, including Wiki Wiki and SA Trinidad.
