Cedar Glen's Dulcinea

ARI#: 1092950
Color: Dark Brown
DOB: 6/28/2008
Category: Unbred Female

Dulci certainly ranks among the best crias born to date on our farm. Her fiber is amazing, with popcorn bundles of shiny brown fleece, consistent in character from her beautiful head all the way down her straight legs. Her tui fleece took 4th out of 13 at the very competitive 2009 AlpacaMania Spin-off, and her histogram results are further proof that she indeed has wonderful fiber to go along with her perfect conformation.

Her bloodlines include...
** PPPeruvian Royal Fawn (a full Accoyo who sold for a world record price of $600,000)
** PPeruvian Ruffo (who sold for $150,000)
** Sheebah (who consistently shears 10 pounds of fiber)
** Peruvian Fawna (the #1 pick of the 1993 Peruvian imports)
** Wiki Wiki
** SA Trinidad

Dulci got off to a great start, with an IgG of over 3200 from her first-time mom, Callista. She practically hit the ground running when she was born, had boundless energy and was usually the instigator of the cria races every evening.

Now a young adult, she is still friendly and curious, the first to come into the barn if we leave the door open. She also loves to give kisses, as you can see from the picture at right.

Unfortunately, as much as we would love to breed her this year, we are running out of space in the pastures, so it will have to wait until there is more room.

The product of Royal Fawn's Peruvian Barolo and Sheebah (out of Peruvian Ruffo G4574 and Peruvian Fawna W914) - this strong young male has all the qualities you look for in a herd sire: perfect conformation, correct bite, and dense crimpy fleece in addition to a calm personality.

He is a grandson of PPPeruvian Royal Fawn 6014, the only light fawn Accoyo ever exported from Don Julio Barreda's herd. According to Julio Barreda, Royal Fawn ranked as one of the best he ever produced at Estancia Accoyo of Peru.

Judge Tim Lavan gave Cassidy high marks for his macho size and dense fleece and Judge Wade Gease commented on his fine fleece and superb handle. He sheared 6.3 lbs of fabulously fine fleece in 2007: AFD 21.2 SD 3.8 and CV 17.9. and placed 1st out of 11 entries in the 2007 AlpacaMania Spin-Off.
On 6/28, Callista gave birth to her first cria and, from that moment, what an ideal Mom she has been! She had a perfect textbook delivery, bonded with her newborn Dulcinea right away, stood still as a statue when Dulci first attempted to nurse and kept encouraging her until she figured it out. Dulci’s IgG level was over 3200 without supplementation! Of course, we should have expected such a positive outcome because Callista is out of Tess and Tess has always been an incredible Mom herself.

Callista is certainly one of our favorites. Her fleece is a beautiful warm brown color, very soft and fine, with full coverage from her cute white chin down to her toes. She is tall in stature and her conformation is very correct. Personality-wise, she is a friendly, curious, and endearing female.
