Penique is very special to us for many reasons. She was Felicia's first cria, as well as our first female out of Igon, so that is reason enough...but what struck us immediately is that she is an improved version of her maternal grandmother, QAI Cream Puff Penny, who is now deceased.
Peni is simply beautiful, with a gorgeous head, crimpy light fawn fleece, her grandma's large dark eyes, and a bit of rose grey on her nose. Personality-wise, she is alot like Felicia and Igon, mellow, curious and easy-going.
Peni is part Accoyo, with CL9 Altair, Peruvian Aladdin and PPPeruvian Yupanqui in her bloodlines. Her first histogram just arrived and it looks like she is living up to her pedigree, with excellent AFD, SD, and crimp scores.
We have high hopes for this beautiful maiden!

Champion-producing Igon is a full Peruvian, Cloud 9 Altair son who carries Yupanqui and Aladdin bloodlines. This proud herdsire has beautiful fleece – and plenty of it! -- 9.3 lbs in 2006 and a whopping 10.6 pounds in 2007. And even at 6 years of age, he has absolutely no "halo" visible in his blanket!
His fleece won a blue ribbon at the 2004 Ohio Alpacafest (OABA) Handcrafters' Spin Off, receiving high marks for lock structure and high frequency of crimp from base to tip. He placed 2nd in a halter class of 7 at the 2005 Heart of the Valley Show, judged by Nard Mullen, and Judge Tim Lavan placed him 4th in a halter class of 10 at the 2005 AlpacaMania show. Igon's fleece earned a red ribbon at the same show.
In his first year at stud, Igon certainly proved his merits. His first 12 crias (8 females and 4 males) were born in 2006 in a variety of colors, and all are reported to have his mellow personality! |
Felicia matured into a bay black beauty, with her Mom's big beautiful eyes and her Dad's dark good looks and proud carriage.
Her 2005 fiber profile was great, with a micron count of 19.6 and comfort factor of 97.8, and her fleece is still very nice through her first pregnancy with an SD of 4.43 and a CV of 15.93.
Felicia has only been to one show -- Full Fleece Halter at AlpacaMania 2005 –- where she barely got nudged out of 2nd place. Judge Tim Lavan described her class of 9 yearlings as very difficult to judge, saying the group as a whole had some of the finest, softest handling fleece in the show. In fact, the 1st and 2nd place winners took the Color and Reserve Championship ribbons for Dark Females.
