Tess

Price: $2,000
ARI#: 800918
Color: True Black & White
DOB: 9/30/1997
Category: Bred Female

Tess has been a wonderful dam for us since we bought her as part of our foundation herd in 2002. She usually gets pregnant on the first try, has trouble-free pregnancies and very easy births. Her cria are big and healthy, able to stand and nurse within an hour and gain weight steadily. On top of that, they all have great personalities and eye-catching good looks.

If Tess sounds like the kind of production dam everyone dreams of owning, you may be wondering why we are selling her. In fact, we’ve been asking that question ourselves! But the truth is, after producing some of our best alpacas, Tess’ bloodlines saturate our herd and we are now at the point where her daughters are starting their own breeding careers. Sadly, it is time for her to pass her wonderful genetics on to another lucky farm.

Tess comes from strong grey and black lineages, including Wiki Wiki and SA Trinidad. In fact, four of her last six cria have been black and that's when bred to black, grey and white studs. She has also produced grey and brown. But no matter what their color, all Tess’ cria have great dispositions with loads of personality. Pictured at right are her 2006 cria, CGA's Taciana, and her 2003 cria, Mi Tesoro. This charismatic macho settled his first female at 27 months! Tess’ granddaughter, SRR’s Star Rider, won the 2007 Color Champion ribbon for brown females at the 2007 Heart of the Valley show at 6 months old!

Tess was bred back to Igon for her 2009 cria, Rico Suave, and he is her best so far. If you purchase her, you can have your choice of CGA herdsires -- Igon again or perhaps Lucero? Both are mellow white males with incredible fleece, so you can't go wrong! A 10% discount applies if you purchase Tess along with another Cedar Glen alpaca.
