Igon

main image
Stud Fee: $1500 1/2 Accoyo
ARI#: 843835
Color: White
DOB: 7/31/2002
Category: Herdsire

A full Peruvian with Yupanqui and Aladdin bloodlines, Igon inherited his mother's sweet disposition, not to mention her overall good looks and blue-ribbon-winning fleece. He inherited gorgeous fleece from his sire, CL9 Altair, as well, along with the color gene, evidenced by a small fawn spot on his side. Igon produced 9.3 lbs of scrumptious fiber in 2006 and a whopping 11.2 pounds in 2009. Even at 6 years of age, he has absolutely no "halo" visible in his blanket.

His fleece won a blue ribbon at the 2004 Ohio Alpacafest (OABA) Handcrafters' Spin Off, receiving high marks for lock structure and high frequency of crimp from base to tip. He placed 2nd in a halter class of 7 at the 2005 Heart of the Valley Show, judged by Nard Mullen, while his half-brother (from the same sire) placed first. Judge Tim Lavan placed him 4th in a halter class of 10 at the 2005 AlpacaMania and Igon's fleece earned a red ribbon at same show.

In his first year at stud, Igon certainly proved his merits! His first 12 crias (8 females and 4 males) were born in 2006 in a variety of colors -- from true black, dark brown, dark gray, rose gray, medium fawn, to white -- with dense crimpy fleeces. As a bonus, they also seem to have inherited his mellow disposition. It's no wonder the happy owners are booking repeat breedings.

One of Igon's first crias, SRR's Star Rider, was named the Heart of the Valley Brown Female COLOR CHAMPION on 5/12/07, at less than 7 months of age!

The name Igon is Basque for “ascension,” so book your breeding to Igon today and help your breeding program rise to the top!

Igon is co-owned with our good friends, Richard and Renate Gyuro, of Alpacas at Lone Ranch in White City, Oregon.
