If you’re looking for a proven herdsire who has dense, crimpy fleece and straight-on conformation, along with an easygoing, mellow personality, look no further!
At almost 6 years old, Lu was again the shearer's favorite this year. He has the right stuff and we think you’ll agree after reading more about him.
• Midway through cutting Lu's yearling blanket the shearer said, "This is just what the judges are looking for!"
• At AlpacaMania 05, Judge Tim Lavan said Lu's fleece had a softness and handle as good as any in the very competitive class of 13 light male yearlings he went up against.
• Judge Wade Gease agreed. He awarded Lu 2nd place for full-fleece white adult males at AlpacaMania 06! There were 7 in his class, including Snowmass, Accoyo, Vengador and Andino bloodlines.
• Lu took 4th place in the 2006 AWE Handcrafters Spin-off, scoring 92 out of 100. He got maximum points for staple length (7"), lack of guard hair, staple structure, fineness, handle, ease of preparation and ease of spinning--plus a comment of "superb" from the spinner!
• Lucero took 2nd place (out of 13) in the 2007 AOBA Handcrafter's Spin-off! Check out the Autumn 07 Alpacas Magazine for full results.
• Still not convinced? An experienced breeder who has won many championship ribbons in fleece was so impressed with Lu's 2007 blanket, she told us we simply had to enter it in upcoming fleece shows. That beautiful blanket took 2nd place at the 2008 Heart of the Valley Fleece Show and the same breeder now has 3 incredible Lu crias on the ground.

Lu's first crias have arrived and they are impressive. HVA's Lucero's Lozano, Lucero's Cobre, and Lucero's Lady Antebellum are pictured here, along with our own Cedar Glen's Lucero's Feliciano. All have wonderful conformation, with strong bone and straight lines. As for their fleece, you'll just have to see their great crimp with your own eyes and feel their fineness & density with your own hands to believe it! As a bonus, they have their Dad's mellow personality and great presence.

Vido captured 1st Place at both the 2003 AOBA National Conference Spin-Off and the 2003 AWE Spin-Off with almost a perfect score! Very impressive for 6 1/2 years old!
Vido is a proven herdsire with a compact, straight & stocky build. When bred to color, Vido has thrown medium fawn to dark brown and even grey! As a bonus, since he was imported "en utero," he offers new bloodlines to North America.

Calla, of Chilean and Peruvian heritage, is a very attentive mother with a wonderful disposition. She gave us two gorgeous crias -- Lucero and his half-sister, Reina de los Cedros. Both of them have fabulous fleece and mellow personalities.
Calla's fleece won a third-place ribbon at the 2003 AlpacaMania show, scoring especially high in the categories of color, crimp, and uniformity.
Calla's sire, PPeruvian Demetrio, was a prolific herdsire during his breeding career, producing 86 registered crias in a wide array of colors in a 5-year period.
